Mr. Rajiv Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner, released the dates for the next Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The elections will take place throughout seven phases, beginning on April 19 and ending on June 1. On June 4, the results will be announced. Additionally, he announced that the assembly elections for Odisha will be held on May 13, Andhra Pradesh on May 13, and Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on April 19. The Election Commission announced at a press conference that they are addressing issues that can impact fair elections, such as money influence, the spread of false information, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct.
A little over 97 crore people can cast a ballot in the next elections. Voting from home will be permitted for voters over the age of 85. The Election Commission guaranteed that all polling places would have access to basic amenities like drinking water and restrooms. The term of the current Lok Sabha expires on June 16, and a new House needs to be established before then. June also marks the end of the terms for four state assemblies. Aiming for a third consecutive term, the BJP won 303 seats in the most recent general elections, while the Congress took home 52 seats. The opposition parties’ efforts to subvert the BJP’s hegemony depend heavily on the results of these elections.
